How to Create People Posts (Bios)

1. Create new People post and add info

  • Create a new People post. In the Dashboard -> People -> Add new page
  • For the TITLE enter the person’s full name.
  • In the block editor area add the person’s bio paragraph.
  • In the custom fields below enter the person’s job title and other info.

2. Upload the images

  • Upload the headshot photo both in the ADD IMAGE custom field at the bottom of the page and in the sidebar as the featured image.
  • Resize a high quality image before uploading it. Recommended to resize to 900px wide.
  • The sidebar image will be the photo displayed in the group of staff photos.
  • The photo uploaded at the bottom of the page will be the one displayed on the actual People post with their paragraph.
  • The featured image will be auto cropped to match the size of the other staff photos. If the auto cropping looks odd, custom crop the photo to a square (900px x 900px) using photoshop or another program and upload a separate image in the sidebar for the featured image.
  • Add alt text to the photo you upload in the media library. For example: “First Name Last Name headshot.”
  • It is best practice for the person’s name to be in the name of the image file. For example: firstname-lastname-headshot.jpg

3. Select the category

  • Select the category that matches the Staff Team for where you want the post to be displayed. For example, Center for Environmental Learning Team. If there is no category for your team, please create one using the same naming conventions by adding “Team” to the category name.
