Working Onsite

Returning to the Office

Effective September 1st, 2022, all Lawrence staff may work onsite with no restrictions in place. Individual work arrangements are determined based on the business need of the role, and must be approved by the employee’s supervisor. Supervisors may also determine the work arrangement for their group/team as whole. More information about flexible work arrangements can be found in the Guidelines and Policies Related to Flexible Work Arrangements document.

Past guidance (September 2021) for returning to onsite work is found here.

Onsite Requirements

  • Face coverings are no longer required for working indoors per campus guidelines.
  • Specific distancing requirements are no longer in effect; however, staff sharing offices or meeting in groups are encouraged to check in with one another about their comfort level and respect their colleagues’ wishes with regards to masking, meeting locations, and distancing.
  • Food: We have an ongoing challenge with pest control. Please clean up all your food items, crumbs, etc. after you eat AND limit the food you keep in the office. Please keep all food items you do keep in the office in sealed containers, like the fridge or strong Tupperware.

Offsite Requirements

  • The Guidelines and Policies Related to Flexible Work Arrangements are still in effect. Everyone who works remotely, even occasionally, should have an up-to-date Flexible Work Agreement on file with Lawrence Hall of Science HR, via Jasmine Lopez (lopezj@berkeley.edu). Instructions for how to complete your agreement are linked in the Guidelines and Policies doc.
  • Staff who regularly work remotely may no longer have an assigned office at The Lawrence. However, we do have space you can utilize whenever you’re onsite. See below for more information on where to work onsite.
  • Contact Cory Welch (cwelch@berkeley.edu) if your office needs change.
